One Final Adventure

The Last Adventure

I’m travelling

Through my mind

To places, far and wide

Constantly seeking

New adventures

I know only too well

How Captain Oates felt

His last shuffling steps

‘I may be some time’

That’s me every day

I keep travelling

Through my mind

Far and wide

Searching out

New adventures

Sat in reflection

Of former glories

My past mistakes

A life half-lived

The glass half-empty

Got to keep travelling

Through my mind

To new places

Seeking out

Another adventure

What does one look for

In an hour of need

A life everlasting?

An eternal flame?

Maybe this is purgatory

Just keep travelling

I’m out of my mind

Further and further

Searching deep inside

For those adventures

All around me they fall

The famous names and faces

Some, cowards in their disgrace

Others inspiring to the end

I don’t want to be nobody’s hero

So I keep travelling

Through my mind

New places, far and wide

Seeking and finding

More and more adventures
