The Singer – Not The Song

curtains_2651

Behind the painted veil

Her heart lies broken

The rouged lips force a smile

Though the cracks run deep

Lost in a character

A different world

Her dancing liberates

Her song entertains

The audience applause

Standing ovation

For a moment, relief

The pain forgotten

There’s always one more show

To hide her feelings

But the final curtain

Wipes away the mask

Last adieus bid farewell

Then it’s homeward bound

To the walls closing in

And no sign of love
